CBSE CTET Recruitment 2026: Age Limit & Validity

  • Minimum Age: 18 Years (Standard NCTE guideline).
  • Maximum Age: No Age Limit.
  • Validity Period: The Validity Period of the CTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be for a lifetime for all categories. There is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a CTET Certificate.

Note: The CTET is an eligibility test, not a direct recruitment drive. Qualifying the CTET is one of the essential eligibility criteria for appointment as a teacher in Central Government schools (KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, etc.) and schools under the administrative control of UTs.

Mode of Selection Process

The CTET September 2026 selection process consists of a Written Examination format utilizing Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs):

  • Paper I: For candidates intending to teach Classes I to V.
  • Paper II: For candidates intending to teach Classes VI to VIII.
  • (Note: Candidates intending to teach both levels must appear for both papers).
  • Qualifying Marks: A person who scores 60% or more in the TET exam will be considered as TET pass. Relaxation up to 5% is allowed for SC/ST/OBC/Differently-abled candidates as per extant reservation policies.
  • Certificate: Successful candidates will receive their mark sheets and eligibility certificates in Digital Format in their DigiLocker account.
