Cut-Off Marks & Merit List
Unlike Paper 1 (B.Tech), JEE Main Paper 2 does not have a strict, universal ‘Qualifying Cut-off’ to clear the exam. Instead, admissions to various architectural and planning colleges depend entirely on the Opening and Closing Ranks released during the JoSAA counselling process. However, the NTA has released the individual percentile scores (NTA Score) for all candidates.
Based on expert analysis and previous years’ admission trends, the expected marks (out of 400) required to secure a seat in top SPAs and NITs are estimated as follows:
- General (UR): 260 – 310 Marks (Approx. 98 – 99.5 Percentile)
- OBC-NCL: 250 – 270 Marks
- EWS: 250 – 270 Marks
- SC/ST: 190 – 220 Marks
Merit List: The NTA has also released the list of toppers. Candidates can find their All India Rank (AIR) and Category Rank printed directly on their downloaded scorecards.

What’s Next? / Selection Process
Now that the JEE Main Paper 2 results are out, successful candidates must gear up for the upcoming counseling and admission phases:
- Counselling Process: Admissions will be handled entirely through the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counselling process. Registration and choice filling for JoSAA 2026 are tentatively expected to begin on June 2, 2026.
- Document Verification: Candidates will have to lock their preferences for NITs, IIEST, and SPAs. Once a seat is allocated, the candidate must report to the designated center for Document Verification (DV) and fee payment.
- AAT Exam (Optional): Students aiming to pursue B.Arch strictly from the IITs (IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, or IIT BHU) must first clear JEE Advanced and subsequently pass the AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test).
