Mode of Selection Process (Multi-Stage)
The selection methodology for BPCL Non-Management posts is highly rigorous and will comprise the following three stages:
- STAGE 1: Computer Based Test (CBT) Candidates will undergo a 120-minute CBT. Merely qualifying the CBT does not guarantee selection; candidates are shortlisted based on ratios, relative performance, and reservation parameters.
- STAGE 2: Skill / Proficiency Test (SPT) & Document Verification Candidates shortlisted from the CBT will be called for the SPT at the respective refinery locations. The SPT is ‘qualifying in nature’ only. During this stage, rigorous Document/Certificate verification (including caste/income certificates) will be conducted. Govt/PSU employees must submit a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) at this stage.
- STAGE 3: Pre-Employment Medical Examination Final appointment is purely provisional and subject to the candidate clearing the BPCL Pre-Employment Medical Examination and meeting all fitness norms based on the job’s hazard and strain profile.
BPCL Non-Management Exam Pattern & Syllabus 2026
The Stage 1 Computer Based Test (CBT) will consist of one objective-type paper.

Q1. Who is strictly NOT eligible to apply for this BPCL Recruitment?
Candidates possessing higher qualifications like B.E., B.Tech, or A.M.I.E., whether acquired before or after obtaining their Diploma, are strictly not eligible. Additionally, candidates with part-time or distance learning diplomas, or diplomas in equivalent/allied branches (like Petrochemical for Chemical posts, or Automobile for Mechanical posts) are not eligible.
Q2. Are Lateral Entry or Sandwich Diploma holders eligible?
Yes, candidates who have completed a Sandwich Diploma course are eligible. Candidates with Diplomas obtained through lateral entry schemes (after Class 12 or ITI into the 2nd year) are also eligible, provided their required percentage is calculated based on the aggregate marks of all 4 semesters.
Q3. Is apprenticeship considered valid experience for this recruitment?
Yes. A minimum of one year of apprenticeship training completed under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961 in the prescribed relevant industries is fully valid and will be considered as post-qualification work experience. The cutoff date for calculating this is 01.07.2026.
Q4. What is the selection methodology for BPCL Non-Management Posts?
The selection involves three main stages: Stage 1 is a Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of Domain Knowledge and General Aptitude with NO negative marking. Q5. I have a CGPA instead of a percentage. How should I fill out the application?
You must convert your CGPA/OGPA into an aggregate percentage of marks using the formula/norms adopted by your Board/University/Institute and enter that percentage. You will be required to produce a certificate from your Institute confirming this conversion formula during document verification.
